Earthquake Beneath Kilauea

A 4.7 magnitude Earthquake occurred this morning beneath the Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.

It was the largest earthquake in the area in the last 50 years.

An Earthquake like this sometimes indicates a new eruption or a change in an existing eruption.  However, there have been no outward signs of unusual summit activity.

Interestingly, Kilauea has been actively erupting since January 1983!
